Sensei Ed Powers III-Renshi 6th Dan (Master Instructor)

Teachings: Sensei Ed Powers began his training with Sensei Yano in 1989 at the North Ridgeville Dojo. After Sensei Yano retired from teaching, Sensei Ed Powers and his wife Melissa took over the North Ridgeville Dojo and became a direct student of Grand Master La Rocco and Master York.

Bio: Sensei Ed Powers received his teaching certificate from Master Uezu in 2002, and was promoted to Chief instructor in early 2003. In May of 2003, Sensei Ed Powers won the OIKKA National Champion Ship for Weapons Kata. In early 2007, Grand Master Jim La Rocco and Grand Master Chris Chase awarded Sensei Ed Powers with his Renshi (Level One Masters) Certificate for his years of dedication and mastery of the art of Isshinryu Karate. The certificate was also signed by Hanshi Angi Uezu. In February 2008, Grand Master Chase and Grand Master La Rocco promoted Sensei Powers 6th Degree Black Belt. Ed was awarded his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt in October 2010.

 
Sensei Melissa Powers-Renshi 6th Dan (Head Instructor)

Teachings: Sensei Melissa Powers started her Isshinryu training under Sensei Yano in early 1992. Sensei Melissa Powers was promoted to Instructor by Master La Rocco in 2003. Sensei Melissa Powers was promoted to 4th dan by Grand Master LaRocco and received her teaching certificate from Master Uezu in 2004. Sensei Melissa Powers is currently the Head Instructor at the North Ridgeville dojo.

Bio: In 2002, Sensei Melissa Powers designed and implemented the first Lil' Dragon kids program of its kind in Lorain County. In early 2007, Grand Master Jim La Rocco and Grand Master Chris Chase promoted Sensei Melissa Powers to 5th Degree Black Belt (Godan) and awarded her with a Renshi (Level One Masters) Certificate for her years of dedication and mastery of the art of Isshinryu Karate. The certificate was also signed by Hanshi Angi Uezu. Sensei Melissa Powers has promoted to 6th Dan in July 2010.
